Becoming a Press Photographer
During my first month at Rice I felt the photography itch come back; I had always shot high school sports but I really hoped to get on the field in a D1 FBS football game and prove myself. Through reaching out to the Thresher (our campus newspaper) and connecting with their incredible team I was afforded the opportunity to shoot photos in TDECU Stadium at the University at Houston-I think they came out great. Furnishing my Suite
I live in the best residential college on campus: Martel (at least that's what I've been indoctrinated to tell you). Basically at Rice we have a college system. The residential college system at Rice University is often considered one of the defining features of the undergraduate experience-it's designed to foster a tight-knit community and a sense of belonging within the larger campus culture.

Living in Martel comes with its ups and downs (like sharing a bathroom and common room with three other suitemates) but overall it's been pretty awesome. A nice part of living in one of the only colleges with an all suite configuration is the freedom I had to do some interior design and create a place to live in. Here's some pictures (my single on the left and the common room on the right):
Closing thoughts
Of course, living on campus and attending a university come with struggles (such as getting a 45% on a math quiz once) but at the end of the day I made countless memories and feel extremely lucky to have been given the chance. I know it's hard to confront moving away and jumping into what is, hopefully, the last step in your education but if there's anything I can say, it's that Rice was a great place to do it.
